The Club Where Speaking German Isn't Scary

02.10.2026

Wednesday, five to seven in the evening. Someone's already on Google Meet with a cup of coffee, someone else is still finishing dinner, phone in hand. The first minute is the usual awkwardness - then someone says the first sentence in German, and the conversation just keeps going on its own.

That's how our Sprachclub works. It doesn't have a special name, and it doesn't need one: what usually stops people from speaking German isn't a lack of words, it's the fear of making a mistake.

Why it works

The topic of each meeting is set a week in advance. Along with it, I send materials - words and phrases that will actually come in handy for that conversation. That changes everything: participants show up having already thought about what they want to say, instead of arriving with an empty head. No scrambling for vocabulary mid-sentence - you can just focus on the conversation itself.

The atmosphere is calm and friendly. It's not a lesson where every mistake gets corrected - it's a conversation where everyone's in the same boat: some speak more confidently, some more cautiously, but no one is being judged.

What we talk about in the conversation club

I pick topics on purpose so that there'd be something to say even in your native language. We've already covered things like first impressions - what we think we can tell about someone in the first few seconds. Food as a reward - the habit of treating yourself to something tasty after a hard day. A digital detox for a day - whether you can really last 24 hours without your phone. And burnout - giving everything to your job until there's nothing left for anything else. Coming up: personal challenges, coffee, padel, and workplace atmosphere - there'll be plenty to say about those too, since basically they're the same topics you'd bring up with friends - just in German.

Who it's for

The meetings are designed for B1 level and up, and I prepare materials at B2-C1, so the language level naturally grows along the way. We meet on Wednesdays from 7 to 8 pm Berlin time, on Google Meet - a format that needs no commute, you can join with that very cup of coffee still in hand.

If German at home only sounds like a textbook, and out loud you can barely manage a couple of sentences - this format is built exactly for moments like that, so the fear of speaking can quietly fade. Book a free consultation, and I'll tell you more about joining the club's next meeting.
