The alarm goes off — time to get out of bed and start a new day. Time for a bit of exercise, a cup of coffee, breakfast, a shower, and then off to class or work.
For some people, mornings are a joy — getting ready to music, catching up on the news, and other small pleasures. For others, though, mornings can be a real challenge. German has an interesting word for this kind of person: Morgenmuffel. Literally, it means "morning grump" — someone who wakes up in a bad mood, tends to grumble, or simply doesn't feel like talking. This kind of person can spend ages in bed, starting the day off with stress and a sour mood.
On the other hand, there are Frühaufsteher — "early risers" — people who love getting up early and start the day full of energy and a positive mindset.
So, are you a Morgenmuffel or a Frühaufsteher?
